Here is a picture of the Manner-Moon-Whitfield A/Fuel dragster taken at Phenix City drag strip Div. 2 points meet 1971. We lost in the final round to Jerry Gwynn (Baby Huey). In the picture, left to right, are Darrel Lee, Herbert Moon, Tom Whitfield, Tom Manner, and Jane Manner (Tom's wife).
Tom Manner was our driver- he also built the chassis and most of the metal work. The first engine was from from my B/MSP Austin Healey. We got a lot of support from Pete Robinson, Julius Hughes, Preston Davis, Raymond Goodman, Jerry Gwynn, Don Powell, Warren Burdett, and Gene Adams. Lamar Walden did some of our machine work as well as Bob Callaham and Billy Christian. We later put a blower on the car and ran BB/Gas and Top Gas. -- Tom Whitfield
(Updated: April, 2003) - I need to add Darrell Lee as part owner of the Manner-Moon-Whitfield & Lee dragster pictures. He was always part of our crew but at the very end he was also part owner. I feel that he needs to be given that credit. -- Tom Whitfield
