As for year, I think 1961. A drag racing news journal, ... something like "Southeastern Drag News" wanted to take group photos. One group with "gassers" and one group with altereds and roadsters. That my little roadster on this end. I'm standing on opposite side of car with straw hat on.
The man standing behind roadster with hat, gray shirt and dark pants, is my
dad, Sam Wilkins, who built the car. In the center of the group front row, in tan pants and shirt with his foot resting on top of front tire of his roadster is a great friend and racer, "The One and Only - Tommy Chapman"!
Newton County had the big races on Sunday, but I enjoyed Friday nights under the lights the best.
