Beswick was paired in a two out of three match race with Curt Wasson (Tommy Grove vs. Bobby Wood two out of three - the East Coast Fuel Funny Car Circuit [16 cars - injected nitro] also raced that day). Also featured was a Pro Stock match race with Dick Brannan (Maverick) vs. Sam Carroll (Barracuda) and a match race between Bogan Renfroe (A/G Catskinner III Willys) and Pete Lester (Pete Fireball Lester) in the Smokey Bear '65 Comet (ex-Nicholson car).
The date was September 20, 1970. Beswick won the first two races in his Chrysler Hemi powered Boss Bird Firebird, then redlighted in the 3rd round while Wasson crossed the centerline in his Superstition Camaro. Grove won his match with Wood, John Carlton won the injected show with his Swinger II Chevy II, Brannan topped Carroll, and Renfroe took the win in his match with Lester. -- David Dilbeck
