Total Performers: FORD Drag Racing in the 1960s

By Charles R. Morris

I can hear the Ford fans cheering now as they read Charles Morris' new book Total Performers - FORD Drag Racing in the 1960s!

Charles takes a stand for the blue oval crowd and states in the book that he is setting the record straight regarding the incorrect (or non-existent) reporting of results by Fords in competition on the drag strips across the United States during the 1960s. Charles backs up his statements with an in-depth look at results from races throughout the country along with many great photos of the well-known drag cars plus many rarely-seen cars.

Also included are examples of various Ford publications, factory drag racing program information, and details about Ford engines. Stories about some of drag racing's greatest drivers will keep you entertained, too.

Total Performers - FORD Drag Racing in the 1960s is written primarily about stock-bodied drag racing machines, but a generous amount of information about funny cars is also included along with many photos. The all out gas and fuel dragsters are briefly covered, but this book is not about dragster racing.

The chapters included cover racing year-by-year starting in 1960 and ending in 1970 with an additional chapter devoted to Ford of Canada.

It's a very interesting and informative book that you'll be glad to add to your drag racing library! It will also make a great gift for Ford fans or for any drag racing fan.

The latest drag racing book from CarTech publishing, Total Performers - FORD Drag Racing in the 1960s is a 192 page, 10" x 10" hardbound book filled with 130 color and 290 black & white photos.

Author Charles Morris has been actively involved in drag racing since 1966. Charles currently owns and races the original Norristown Ford 1963 -1/2 lightweight Galaxie in the Nostalgia Super Stock class as a part of the 422 Motorsports team.

CarTech continues to lead the publishing field in quality drag racing books and this is another book that I highly recommend.

Marvin T. Smith and I are currently writing a book (Atlanta Drag Racing: The Golden Years) about Atlanta area drag racing that we hope to have completed in 2005. We intend to honor many of the local drag racers from the Atlanta area and also provide an overview of the history of organized drag racing in Atlanta. With full time jobs and families, Marv and I are pedaling as fast as we can! Keep checking GeorgiaDragRacing.com for news about our book.
